Female Artists

Female artists in the region have been invited to show original artwork that deals (directly or indirectly) with issues related to women's equality, reflecting on the accomplishments and hardships of women in their quest for equal rights.

The exhibit will dovetail with another exhibit taking place at the Gallery on the SWCC campus which will feature reproductions of photographs from the Library of Congress showing women protesting and marching with message banners, as well as images of leaders of the Suffrage movement, such as Alice Paul.

Appalachian Arts Center, a part of Southwest Virginia Community College, is open Tuesday through Friday from 12-6pm and Saturday from 10am-6pm. The Arts Center is located in the “Old Archie Helton Store” on Route 19, 2.5 miles south Claypool Hill. For more information, contact the Appalachian Arts Center at 276.596.9188 or email appartsinfo@sw.edu.
