Botanical Watercolors Workshop


Appalachian Arts Center will offer a Botanical Watercolors workshop on Saturday, May 26, 2012, from 10am- 4pm. Organized through the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) Office of Statewide Partnerships and taught by instructor Dawn Flores, this workshop teaches watercolor techniques through exercises designed to help the participant understand different color properties and improve brush control. Information on paper, paint, and drawing techniques used in botanical art will also be discussed. Basic drawing skills are required to draw the botanical specimen from which you will paint an elegant botanical watercolor. The audience for this workshop is middle school through adult. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants, registered on a 1st come, 1st served basis, with a registration deadline of May 12, 2012. Tuition for the workshop is $30.00, with some scholarships available.
