Organizational meeting for Conversations, a monthly gathering for artists, craftspeople and creative entrepreneurs to trade tips, share knowledge and informally discuss the ‘ins and outs’ of being in a creative field. Conversations originally began in Abingdon as a 'Round the Mountain artisan networking initiative. 'Round the Mountain is excited for Conversations to branch out throughout our region and the Appalachian Arts Center is excited to host. This first meeting will be an opportunity for those interested in attending this group to decide what type of networking opportunity is desired at Appalachian Arts Center. We will discuss logistics, structure and welcome all comments and suggestions for successful artisan networking in our community. For more information, call the Arts Center at 276.596.9188 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

This workshop will cover the broad topic of applications for artisans. Participants will look at and discuss a variety of application processes and the "ins & outs" and "dos and don'ts" associated with the different types. Within the discussion of applications, there will be an overview of the different parts of the artisan packet, such as artist statements, resumes, and photography. Appalachian Arts Center will be conducting additional workshops addressing those specific artisan packet items later in the spring. While looking at different types of applications, current opportunities for artisans will be shared as well.
